Hello and welcome to our class home page for 8th grade science.

Getting Started

If it is your first few days in class you must view Ms Sigman's Survival Tips for Class and also the Lab Safety Rules.  You will need to have your parents sign a copy of the Survival Tips for Class and also a copy of the Lab Safety Rules.  If you need a copy of the lab safety rules in Spanish click here.  You can download all of these from this web site or get them from Ms Sigman in class.  Study the Lab Safety Rules and then take the Lab Safety test.  When you have completed this you may begin lab class with the rest of the class.  Before you are ready to begin class with the rest of the students you will need to obtain a lab notebook from Ms Sigman and learn how to set up your lab notebook.

Populations and Ecosystems by FOSS

We will be continuing the Populations and Ecosystems kit by FOSS at the beginning of the year this year.  We do not have much time to complete this kit and so we will be moving very quickly through it.  We will begin with a study of genetics.

Science Fair

This year the science fair will be the week of March 16th through the 20th.  More information and resources will follow as we draw nearer the time of the fair.

A good resource for science fair projects and project ideas is the Science Buddies website.  Check it for ideas on what kinds of projects you might like to perform.

Basic Science Skills

If you are unprepared for class in any way or you are kicked out of class for any reason you will need to complete an alternate assignment.  These assignments will be available here as well as in the classroom.

Science AIMS Testing This Year

This year all 8th graders will take the Science AIMS test.  You need to be ready in order to pass the test.  During the year resources for studying and for taking the AIMS test will be posted here.
